It’s time for another teacher spotlight! Today we’re featuring the wondrous Colin. That’s right, wondrous. Colin teaches piano, beginner guitar and ukulele here at Green Brooms and recently served as our piano accompanist at the Spring 2014 Recital.
After having received his Bachelor’s Degree from The Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, Colin and his wife moved out to Los Angeles to teach music and continue his other career scoring film and TV. Though Colin's main passion remains teaching and getting students excited about music.
Colin started teaching piano in high school and has always had a real passion for it. He loves to see a concept click with a student, or even more so, to see a long-lasting appreciation for music develop over time. In fact, Colin just created a new website Sight Reading Academy as a supplement tool for students to use to improve their sight reading--a very important skill to have as a pianist. Colin writes practice pieces for students, each tailored to fit the level they are at, and sends each student 4-5 new pieces each week to work on.
In his spare time, Colin likes to drink coffee. If you’ve ever wanted to know which single origin bag you should buy next (and from where), Colin is your guy. Put that together with a piano lesson--you’ve got yourself an evening! So feel free to stop in and have some coffee with us on Wednesdays and try out a lesson, if you’re feeling inspired.
