Tiger Boys Soccer Team Ousted from Playoffs
South Pasadena's boys soccer team was eliminated from the playoffs by Arroyo Valley after a 1-0 loss.
Playing in a wild card game of the CIF soccer playoffs, boys soccer team self destructed in the first half against visiting Arroyo Valley from San Bernardino.
First, the Tigers' starting goalie was ejected from the game for a penalty in the first half. Later in the game, a defender penalized for pulling a player down from behind during a breakaway. Consequently, the Tigers played the rest of the game two players short.
Play was extremely rough with players being fouled the entire game, one resulting in a key injury. Despite being shorthanded, the Tigers played a gutsy game, fighting off numerous attacks and even mounting a few scoring attempts. They played Arroyo Valley even the second half and came close to tying the game on a couple of occasions. The final whistle meant that the Tiger season is over as they were unable to advance to the next round in the playoffs due to the 1-0 loss.
