South Pasadena (3-4) managed to compete in doubles play, with their only two wins coming from partners Brianna Loo and Mei Chung.

“Crescenta Valley is a very solid team, and we respect that,” Tigers head coach Ron Mazuca said. “We just didn’t compete today. Our doubles played strong and fought hard, but we were lacking a lot of things. We can play better than this, but nothing that we pulled off could have gotten us the win.”
The Falcons (5-1, 2-1) not only swept the boards in the singles matches, they lost only six games in all the nine matches played. Karen Ataian beat all of her opponents with 6-0 scores, showing her dominance with her return serves.

“Playing this well really helps us out since we are in a very big competitive league,” Falcons head coach Sarah Wiggins said. “We have had such little time to prepare for Pacific League play since it all started last week, so for everyone to get in and play really helps us out.”
For the Falcons, this is their third match in four days, with the final of the week happening against Burroughs Thursday. The Tigers also continue play Thursday in a non-league match against Arroyo.
