Update: Morris Gussin Court Date Postponed to March, Still Held at L.A. County Jail

The former South Pasadena resident was arrested in October on 20 felony counts for allegedly making false investments in a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme.

A court hearing for former South Pasadena resident Morris Gussin is set for Thursday, March 3, in Los Angeles, South Pasadena Detective William Earley told Patch this week.

“It is a really involved case,” said Detective Earley. “It took me over two years to get together.”

At the hearing, the judge could either issue another continuance for both the defendant and plaintiff to review evidence or set a date for the arraignment hearing, Earley said.

Gussin’s arraignment was previously set for Nov. 15, 2010, and Jan. 12 and Feb. 10 of this year.

“The defense has as much time as they want to get ready for this case,” Earley said.

On Oct. 28, 2010, . The judge issued the bail by making a calculation of $100,000 for each of the 16 victims involved in the case.

Gussin was arrested on Oct. 13, 2010, on 20 felony counts of grand theft and security violations. He is currently being held at the the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles.

Gussin’s attorney, George Newhouse of Brown, White & Newhouse, has stated that his client will enter a not guilty plea.
