As a Vietnam-Era vet I remember well when I came back to the States how we received a cold shoulder, even some hostility. How times have changed, yesterday we vets were hosted by several area restaurants to thank us for our service, and were welcomed by people with a : "thank you for your service". I only wish those friends of mine who did not make it back could have experienced the same gratitude. But the satisfaction of knowing (finally) that their sacrifice was recognized is some consolation. To those restaurants and establishments that treated us to a dinner, thank you all for your kind gesture, it sure beats eating in a mess hall!
