- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Smackdown
- Riot Security Games Meetup
- Capture the Flag (CTF)
- OWASP 2016 Projects Review Webinar
For whatever reason, there is a high proportion of InfoSec folks who train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The BJJ Smackdown is a chance for us to do what we love best – training jiu-jitsu – with our friends and peers in the industry. For the second year in a row, OWASP AppSec California will offer its own Smackdown. Are you ready?
Also not to be missed, AppSec California will have two security talks from David Rook of Riot Games and two of his Riot colleagues. These talks will provide useful insight into how they approach application security at Riot. They will talk about application security culture, Riot application security data and some custom tools they’ve developed to help their engineers to produce secure code. Don’t worry…it wouldn’t be a Riot Games event if it didn’t involve playing some games! The event will start at 6:30pm and finish around 11pm. If you’d like to stay around to play games with other Rioters in their state-of-the-art PC Bang and Arcade, be sure you sign up to attend the AppSec California event so you can get the full details. Let the games begin!
For those that want a different mental challenge, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that OWASP San Diego will be hosting an amazing AppSec California Capture the Flag (CTF) hacking competition for the second year in a row! No pre-registration is necessary! Sign up on-site, get plugged in, and get started. If this is your first CTF ever, you will be able to find things if you try. If this isn’t your first rodeo, we have challenges for you too. Who will come out on top?
Finally, for those that want to participate beyond the conference, we have an OWASP-sponsored webinar, moderated by Tom Brennan and scheduled for the final hours of the event on Wednesday. This session, open to all attendees, is a call to OWASP Project Leaders to get together to discuss OWASP Projects in 2016, including the following topics:
- Open-Source Legal Considerations for OWASP Project Leaders
- Current Workflow (End-To-End / Lab – Flagship)
- Discuss Identified Areas of Improvement
- Establishing Regional Representation
- Asia-Pacific Security Council (APSC)
- North America Security Council (NASC)
- Europe Middle East and Africa Security Council (ESC)
- Latin America Security Council (LASC)
- Sprints, Sabbaticals & Summit
Even if you can’t attend AppSec California, you can still register for the online webinar here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/7141369075633328641
From the opening keynote by Marcus Ranum, Chief Security Officer, Tenable Network Security, to Wednesdays keynote by Jeremiah Grossman, Founder, WhiteHat Security – and all of the extra stuff designed to keep us kicking our heels well into each evening – this high impact card promises to pack a serious heavyweight punch.
