Whiz Kid: Bryan Bednarski

This week's Whiz Kid was untouchable on the pitcher's mound earlier this month.

  • Whiz Kid's Name/Age: Bryan Bednarski, 16.
  • Whiz Kid's School
  • Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: In a March 15 baseball game against Glendale High School, Bednarski pitched a perfect game, striking out 12 in seven innings to get the win and leading the Tigers to an 11-0 victory. The coaching staff can't recall any other student pitching a perfect game in recent years. Coach Sonn Eidemm commented that pitching a perfect game "isn't easy to do in any league of baseball" and that he is very proud of Bednarski. The junior varsity baseball team is 3-3 for the season.
  • Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Bednarski has been playing baseball for ten years. He is passionate about athletics, and also plays wide receiver for varsity football. He gives back, too, by teaching younger kids baseball in little league clinics, the same ones he participated in as a youth himself. He's not just a jock, either; this heavy-hitting sophomore also boasts a 3.92 weighted GPA.
