• Stanton Looks to Curb Crime Hot Spots With New Business License Rules (voiceofoc.org) — Stanton is tightening its business license rules to crack down on properties linked to drugs, prostitution and other illegal activity, adding a three-year "cooling off" period after a license is denied or revoked. City leaders say shifting revocation decisions to the assistant city manager and streamlining appeals should help protect neighboring businesses and prevent nuisance operators from quickly returning.
   

• Wilkes County Man Murdered In California (860wacb.com) — A man was fatally stabbed in Stanton, where deputies say a suspect chased him with a knife before fleeing in a vehicle and later being arrested after a pursuit. Investigators continue to examine what led to the killing, which involved a victim with local North Carolina ties and a suspect now jailed on suspicion of murder.
