2. Mayor Fugazi announces 'governance reset' for Stockton. What does that mean? (stocktonia.org) — Stockton's mayor is pushing a sweeping "governance reset" that could change the city charter and how City Hall power struggles are handled, in response to recent grand jury findings. Local Democrats are tying future endorsements to backing ethics reforms and distancing from 209 Times, raising the stakes for how leaders respond to accountability demands.
3. Stockton Community Pow Wow Brings Native American Culture and Tradition to Pacific (caravannews.com) — Stockton families can experience living Native American culture at the Stockton Community Pow Wow on September 5–6, 2026, at University of the Pacific. The long-running local tradition features dancing, drumming, Native foods, and arts while inviting residents to learn directly from Indigenous communities that have gathered here for more than four decades.

Her exit reshapes the contest against incumbent Brando Villapudua and follows an investigation alleging she used inaccurate Stockton addresses on voting and candidacy paperwork. The charges remain unproven as she awaits arraignment in San Joaquin County Superior Court.
5. Alumnus' legacy will elevate business school profile (pacific.edu) — A Stagg High and Stockton-raised alumnus, Arthur Franks, is committing a substantial estate gift to University of the Pacific's Eberhardt School of Business to expand hands-on learning and raise the school's profile. Franks credits his Pacific education in Stockton for a long career in finance and wants future students, including non-business majors, to gain strong business foundations. The endowment will fund experiences that help graduates compete for jobs across California and beyond.
