Wordstock209 Brings Book Festival and Youth Writing Contest to Stockton Oct. 3 (caravannews.com) — San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton will host Wordstock209 on Saturday, Oct. 3, offering book talks, poetry open mics, workshops, food trucks, and prizes. The festival also crowns winners of Tuleburg Press's youth writing contest for San Joaquin County students, who will perform their work live.
   

2. Rooted in Community: Stockton Pride Celebrates 15 Years With Free Downtown Festival (caravannews.com) — Downtown Stockton will host the free 15th Annual Stockton Pride Festival on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza. Residents can expect live entertainment, bilingual drag shows, food, vendors, and nonprofit resource booths, all centered on celebrating and supporting the local LGBTQ+ community and allies.
   

3. Stockton woman sentenced to 7 years in prison, possessed near 900 grams of fentanyl (fox40.com) — A Stockton woman has been sentenced to seven years in state prison after narcotics officers found nearly 900 grams of fentanyl, other drugs, and a loaded firearm at a Stockton home in July. Prosecutors say the case, involving previously convicted felon Carla Lockhart, underscores local efforts to hold drug traffickers and armed felons accountable in San Joaquin County.
   

4. Desiree Lynch withdrew from Stockton council race. A judge confirmed her name will remain on the ballot (stocktonia.org) — A judge has ruled that Desiree Lynch's name must stay on the November ballot for Stockton's District 5 council seat, despite her attempts to withdraw following felony election-fraud charges and residency questions. Ballots listing Lynch and incumbent Brando Villapudua are being printed this week, leaving voters to decide amid uncertainty about Lynch's legal case and future intentions.
   

5. Society of Professional Journalists names Stocktonia national winner of First Amendment award (stocktonia.org) — Stockton-based newsroom Stocktonia has been named a national winner of the Society of Professional Journalists' Eugene S. Pulliam First Amendment Award for its watchdog reporting on local government and courts. The recognition underscores Stocktonia's growing role as a major local news source committed to transparency and press freedom.
