MATCHING FUND SCHOLARSHIP ~ PAW’s Matching Fund Scholarship helps make Musical Theater Camp accessible to hundreds of children each summer. Thanks to a generous longtime Los Angeles donor, 300 scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Matching Fund Scholarship covers half of the tuition for a two-week session when families match the remaining $500. Each child in the family may receive one scholarship, and there are no financial qualifications or prerequisites. The program is designed to make camp accessible to all families who want to participate. Parents can secure a scholarship simply by calling the PAW office at (310) 827-8827 to be placed in the donor book.

PAW AMBASSADOR SCHOLARSHIP ~ For families looking to further stretch their summer camp budget, PAW’s Ambassador Scholarship offers a unique service-in-exchange for tuition program. By volunteering just one day (or eight hours total) helping spread the word about PAW camps, parents receive 50% off camp tuition. Many families choose to be repeat ambassadors, allowing their children to attend multiple camp sessions while helping other local families discover the benefits of arts education. It’s a win-win program built around community, creativity, and giving kids opportunities to thrive.

A Personal Mission
Cheryl Appleman, president of PAW, created these scholarship programs because she believes every child deserves the chance to experience the benefits of the arts. Her long-standing mission is to provide high-quality, arts-based camps where every child can participate, no matter their family situation is made possible through two scholarship programs and special family discounts.

“I know many of the families we serve and understand the challenges they’re facing,” Appleman said. “When your child is passionate about something and you have to say no because of finances, it’s heartbreaking. I was a scholarship kid myself, and my dance teacher gave me opportunities that changed my life. I want to do the same for children today.”

Campers don’t need previous experience - just a curiosity and a passion for performing. Each session of camp culminates in a free creative performance for family and friends ~ a joyful celebration of all the campers have accomplished! This summer, PAW’s Musical Theater campers can perform in children’s adaptations of The Sound of Music, Wicked, or Lilo & Stitch.

PAW teachers are nurturing, skilled instructors who are dedicated to fostering a safe, non-competitive environment, where children can use the arts as a medium with which to learn compassion, collaboration, and creativity.
