Baby Not Tossed Over Cliff As Reported; Found Safe In The Valley
A report that a mother tossed her baby over a cliff following a fight with the father triggered an overnight search and rescue effort.

SYLMAR, CA — Rescuers searched frantically overnight for a baby feared thrown over a cliff by its mother. In the end, the baby was found safe with family in the San Fernando Valley.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the child's father called 911 at about 1 a.m. Monday and said he and the baby's mother had been in an argument and she claimed to have tossed the baby over a cliff near Lopez Canyon and Kagel Canyon roads.
Los Angeles County firefighters and Altadena and Crescenta Valley Search and Rescue Teams fanned out to search for the baby. During the investigation the baby's mother admitted that she hadn't actually tossed the baby, said Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
