The world always looks different on foot than it does from a moving car.  I've found that taking a walk is one of the best ways to find new places; every time I set out on foot, I notice storefronts and signs that I always seem to miss while driving.  Walking in Studio City can be like a scavenger hunt.  Signs appear and beckon to me, like the Cheshire Cat in Alice and Wonderland.

Eat and drink:  Rocco's Tavern, at 12514 Ventura (the southwest corner of Ventura and Whitsett), serves food until 1:00 a.m. daily.   Looks like a great place to pop in for a late-night bite!  Rocco's also offers 2-for-1drinks daily from 3:00-7:00 p.m.

Exercise:  Yoga Shelter, at 12408 Ventura, offers locals one free week of unlimited yoga classes.  Their schedule of classes is very impressive, with a wide variety of levels and times offered.  Also, Yoga Shelter keeps a dish of water outside for thirty dogs.

Shopping deals:  Venice Custom Shirts, at 12424 Ventura, offers $9.99 belts and silk ties. 

The world is definitely a different place on foot, exciting and mysterious. It makes me wonder what I don't know about, despite having lived here for years.  I'll have to walk to find out.
