Burst Water Main Floods Studio City Neighborhood

A broken water main in a hilly Studio City neighborhood sent a stream of water down a street and onto the roof a house tonight, severly flooding it. authorities said/.

It was reported at 6:56 p.m. in the 4000 block of North Alcove Avenue, city fire spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.

Department of Water and Power crews were called to stem the flow.

A freelance photojournalist said water was flowing over the curb and cascading onto the roof of the home, downhill to the north.

The sudden deluge was in a steep hillside neighborhood south of Ventura Boulevard and east of Coldwater Canyon Boulevard.
