CASA of Los Angeles Hosts Studio City Info Session - Helping Foster Kids in LA
Volunteers from CASA/LA will provide information on volunteering and helping foster children in Los Angeles County.

Please join CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Los Angeles for a hosted community information session this Saturday, August 9, 2015 - 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church - 12355 Moorpark St, Studio City, CA 91604. Refreshments will be served.
At present, there are nearly 30,000 children in LA County foster care. This means at any given time, a Los Angeles judge may be responsible for making life-changing decisions for as many as 600-800 children.
Many of these outcomes can place foster children in stressful and changing environments. For example, research has shown that moving to a new school can cause up to six months of lost learning opportunities, putting children in foster care at great risk of falling behind their peers in school and limiting future employment opportunities.
Each year, CASA/LA recruits, trains, and supports volunteers who become advocates for children placed in the foster care system. CASA volunteers advocate for the best interests of the children they work with, in both the community and the courtroom. Working one on one with these children, volunteers help each child develop as an independent and successful human being. They are truly a life-changing presence for these kids.
