UPDATE: Community Turns Out for Luminaria [PHOTOS & VIDEO]

drew families from Studio City and throughout the Los Angeles area to enjoy music, history and hot cocoa and cookies.

Volunteers from the Studio City Neighborhood Council put together the event at the Campo de Cahuenga. People came up from the Metro Station and stumbled across the event, and some families came in after spending a day at Universal Studios.

Eugenia Hamelin from Long Beach came with her visiting friend San Munson from Boulder, Colo. specifically to the event. They read about the event on Patch and decided to come.

“We love it, this is wonderful,” said Hamelin. “We were going to go to Universal but this is a lovely community event. We are having a great time.”

Acting Studio City Librarian read stories to children inside the museum, and the North Hollywood Jazz Band, and the Synchronicity Handbell Ensemble all performed.

“It was amazing how complicated it was to put these lights in all the bags,” said Neighborhood Council board member , explaining how fellow board member figured out the traditional lights around the Campo. They were on their hands and knees stringing the lights around the grounds. “But it’s beautiful. It was well worth it.”
