Tom LaBonge said today his chief of staff, who hopes to succeed the termed-out Los Angeles city councilman, is taking a leave of absence to focus on her campaign.Carolyn Ramsay's duties will be taken over by Ramon Richard Alatorre, a retired former pilot with the Los Angeles Police Department, LaBonge said.The Fourth District council race is expected to be crowded, with fundraising papers already submitted by as many as a dozen would-be candidates hoping to gain voters' support in the March 3 election, including Ramsay.The aspiring council members together had raised more than $250,000 as of the end of last year.--City News Service
