Elderly Woman Beaten in Home Invasion Robbery In Studio City

An 84-year-old woman was beaten when two men broke into her Studio City Home.

STUDIO CITY, CA — An investigation was underway Tuesday into the battering of an 84-year-old woman in Studio City during what appears to have been an intended "knock-knock" burglary.

The woman was home alone when the crime occurred about 5:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of Oakdell Road, according to news reports.

The woman was taken to a hospital after the incident, Los Angeles police Officer Aareon Jefferson told the Los Angeles Daily News. He described the crime as a home invasion robbery.

A neighbor who asked not to be identified told the Daily News two men went to the woman's home and rang the doorbell before they headed to the back of the residence, broke a window and went inside.

It's unclear what the men took but one of them struck the woman once, possibly with a handgun, before leaving, police told CBS2.

The station reported that the woman was back home Tuesday and had a battered face.
