The Feu…The Proud…The Pho Kitchen
Fee…fi…fo…fum…I smell the aroma of authentic Vietnamese flavors…yum! If you haven’t already been, I heartily recommend that you check out Feu Pho Kitchen in Studio City.
Located on Ventura Blvd at the corner of Eureka (right across the street from Marshalls and L.A. Fitness), Feu is a gastronomic delight for any self-identifying foodie who loves good Vietnamese tacos and pho. The atmosphere is casual yet comfortable, and the prices are so reasonable you’ll walk out a bit stunned that both your stomach and wallet are equally full.

I enjoy ordering a medley of dishes for everyone at the table to share. The Vietnamese tacos are scrumptious. For only four bucks, you can get two Bbq pork meatball tacos. For five dollars, try two smoked pork belly tacos; that smoky goodness will light your world on fire! Two hangar steak tacos are also $5.00. The protein portions are generous, especially for the price.
Spring rolls and fried eggrolls are lip smacking at Feu. The Spring Roll has a large tiger shrimp nestled in rice noodles, lettuce, pickled vegetables, and crispy onion. The peanut plum dipping sauce will make you wish you could swim in a vat of it. The fried eggroll offers a choice of ground pork, crab meat, or mushroom with caramelized onion, carrot, lettuce, and a chili vinaigrette dipping sauce. Spring rolls are $6.00, and fried egg rolls are $5.00. Delectable!

If you haven’t tried Bun (pronounced BOON), it’s never too soon, and you’ll howl at the moon and cry like a loon, so I suggest you commune on a fine afternoon, ‘cuz they’ll be playing your tune! Really, though, I can’t speak highly enough about Feu Pho Kitchen’s mouth-watering Bun, which is cold vermicelli noodle salad. Feu offers hangar steak, jidori chicken, tiger shrimp, and tofu-and-mushroom Bun, all served with fresh veggies and herbs, peanuts, crispy onion, and an egg roll. You have your choice of chili vinaigrette or soy sesame vinaigrette. The table is also set with hoisin sauce and sriracha, so choices of dressings and sauces are plentiful. The cost of Bun ranges: $8.00 for the tofu-and-mushroom; $9.00 for the chicken; $11.00 for the hangar steak; and $13.00 for the tiger shrimp. Portions are munificent…I was shocked when the server put my Bun down in front of me.
Speaking of servers, ask for Jose; he’s funny, friendly, upbeat, and really enjoyable. The service at Feu is equally as good as the food and the prices.
Feu Pho Kitchen, of course, serves pho. However, I have yet to try it. I’ll wait until cooler weather arrives, and then seek out a bowl of steaming hot noodle soup. I’ve also not yet sampled Feu’s Banh Mi (Vietnamese style sandwiches), so there’s also next on my list.
My husband and I once shared Shaking Beef, one of Feu’s specialty rice dishes. Complete with hangar steak, anise, watercress, caramelized onion, pickled vegetables, and ginger garlic tomato rice, it left us shaking with pleasure. Writing about food is so much fun…eating is one of life’s carnal and sensual pleasures!
Definitely check out Feu Pho Kitchen. It won’t disappoint.
