Fire Destroys Studio City Home, Injures 1

The blaze spread from the home to nearby vegetation before firefighters were able to put it out.

STUDIO CITY, CA — A stubborn fire destroyed a Studio City Home Wednesday night, injured a man and spread to nearby vegetation before firefighters could tackle the blaze.

The fire broke out in the 12100 block of West Hillslope Street at about 9:12 p.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Amy Bastman.

" A large blaze on the first floor of a two-story home quickly spread causing damage to both floors," Bastman said. "The fire also extended out of a side window burning a nearby fence and vegetation, which firefighters aggressively extinguished while putting out the flames inside the home with a coordinated fire attack and vertical ventilation."

Paramedics took a 57-year-old man to the hospital in fair condition. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to put out the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Bastman said.
