Fourth Of July Fire Engulfs Studio City Garage
The blaze threatened a series of detached garages near the Los Angeles River in Studio City.

STUDIO CITY, CA — Residents in a Studio City neighborhood woke up on Independence Day to a fire that threatened a series of detached garages.
The fire was first reported at 7:35 a.m. in the 12109 block of West Hoffman street, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart. Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire exposing a second row of garages nearby, she said.
It took 26 firefighters just 12 minutes to extinguish the blaze, limiting the major damage to one garage unit, she added. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the blaze was under investigation. Authorities didn't immediately have an estimate for the damage.
