Fugitive Prompts Standoff In Studio City

STUDIO CITY, CA — The Los Angeles Police Department SWAT Team surrounded a home in Studio City where a burglary suspect and fugitive from Ohio was holed up for four hours Wednesday afternoon.
The standoff happened at the 4000 block Hillslope Street, said LAPD Officer Sal Ramirez. Residents were advised to avoid the area. Two people were allowed to leave the home while the standoff continued, according to a report from the scene.
At about 11:34 a.m., detectives went to the home looking for a burglary suspect.

"The suspect opened the door, realizes detectives are at the door, and he closes the door," Ramirez said.
Locked inside, the suspect refused to come out, Ramirez added. The Los Angeles Police Department has not said what the man is wanted for in Ohio, but more than a dozen LAPD and unmarked cars were seen racing to the scene Wednesday afternoon.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, was taken into custody about 3:30 p.m., police said.
