I CLOSE MY EYES
I close my eyes, to try and seethe future ahead that may come to be.
I know in time, there will be more pain
I know it like there will be more rain.
There will be sadness, I have no fear
there may be a loss of someone dear.
I've learned that fear is never far
neither is dreaming and wishing on a star.
If you allow the pain or fear to rule
you soon believe that life is cruel.
You must look beyond what is not there
it is not some ghost behind a chair.
With my eyes tightly closed
I am amazed to see
The only pain
is there within me.
My eyes are closed
but the beauty I can see
is there with the pain
and deep within me.
So allow me to laugh
and feel love and joy.
Not just the pain of
a long lost boy.
The boy has gone
an old man appeared.
His youth has flown
and the end grows near.
But Love has always been close at hand
I feel it now, but not as a man.
I hear the laughter of my youth
and know love is only truth.
So I close my eyes and try to see
the loves I've gained that now are me.
