Studio City Schoolgirl's False Kidnapping Tale Triggers Lockdown
A an eight-year-old girl told authorities a man tried to kidnap her, prompting a lockdown at Carpenter Community Charter School: BREAKING

STUDIO CITY, CA — A Studio City school was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon when an eight-year-old girl told authorities an armed man tried to kidnap her on school grounds, but the story was later determined to be false.
Before authorities determined the girl's story to be a fib, staff at Carpenter Community Charter School gathered students into the auditorium and called parents to come pick up their children, said Los Angeles Police Officer Tony Im.
"Today at about 2:40 in the afternoon, an 8-year-old girl said a suspect entered the school grounds and tried to drag her away at knifepoint," Im said. "After conducting a thorough interview, they established that the stories was made up."

Im said the police department would likely leave any potential discipline up to the school.
"When an 8 year makes something like that up, we can’t send them to jail because of their mindset," he said. "They are kids so they don’t know the consequences."
