The production is directed by James Powell and Laurence Connor, designed by Matt Kinley inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo, with costumes by Andreane Neofitou, additional costume designs by Christine Rowland and Paul Wills, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Mick Potter, and projections realized by Finn Ross, Jonathon Lyle and Fifty Nine Productions.

The music by Claude-Michel and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer together with the outstanding out of this world over the moon orchestra (always characters in and of themselves) are the nebula, the nucleus, the pivotal paramount crucial core, the vital glue that binds this brilliant creation so effortlessly.

It is currently on stage in London's West End and on tour in The Netherlands and Belgium with a new tour of Japan in 2024. The most recent North American tour from 2017 to March 2020, played 94 engagements until it was halted due to the global pandemic.
