Lisa Sarkin Reports about the Next Step for Redistricting

From Lisa Sarkin, Vice President of the Studio City Neighborhood Council, Chair Land Use Committee and CD2 Appointee - Ventura/Cahuenga Blvd. Corridor Specific Plan Review Board

Late last night, the Redistricting Commission heard our pleas and restored 99.4% Studio City and our Neighborhood Council area and most of North Hollywood to CD2.  The small part of Sherman Oaks was removed from CD2 and both SONC and SOHA agree it makes more sense.

Our forcing of the issue is a win/win for all. Toluca Lake got what they want by being restored to CD4 and we prevailed in restoring Studio City with a vote of 20-1.

Next week, during the Redistricting Commission’s meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at City Hall, 200 Spring Street at 4 p.m., these adjustments will be reviewed and sent on to the Rules, Elections and Intergovernmental Relations Committee, chaired by Council President Herb Wesson.

When it comes out of committee, it will go to the City Council for a final vote. Implementation of Redistricting is July 1.
