Local Toastmaster Wins First Place
Dennis Herzig now competes at the district level this weekend.
Dennis Herzig, a local vice president for investment properties, knows how to speak a good line.
He won first place at an area competition among other Toastmasters groups—making his proud—and will now compete in the District 52 Toastmaster’s regional all-day competition taking place Saturday at the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club in Universal City.
The keynote speaker is Jane Flaherty who will speak on “Lifetime Leadership ... Leaving Your Legacy.”

Herzig, who is vice president at Lee & Associates investment properties, has been a member of the Studio City Toastmasters for five years. The local groups is called The Chamber Communicators and is one of a handful of specific Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Straight ally Toastmaster groups in the country.
“I truly enjoy this group, there are always fascinating topics and it’s a good group of people,” Herzig said.

Many of them will come to cheer him on during the competition, where he will get a topic to discuss at the spur of the moment and then have to discuss it.
At a recent Table Topic, Herzig talked about working as a journalist in Florida and watching the Space Shuttle take off.
The group meets every other Monday at Oil Can Harry’s at 7:30 p.m. and the next meeting takes place on Nov. 14.
