Mayor Appoints Studio City's John Walker to DWP Selection Committee
Walker will be among those to pick the next Department of Water and Power executive director.

Studio City's Neighborhood Council Presidentwas appointed Tuesday by to be on the committee that picks the next executive director of the Department of Water and Power.
"It is a pleasure to inform you that I have been appointed by the Mayor to serve on the committee which will make the final selection of the best qualified candidate to serve as Executive Director," Walker said in a statement to the stakeholders of Studio City.
Walker will be one of five members of the selection committee chosen citywide.

"The Department of Water & Power is at a critical juncture. Over the next 20 years, the DWP must transform into a cleaner, green utility, as required by State and Federal renewable energy and water quality mandates," he said.
"Complying with these regulations will require a significant investment in our utility, and the executive director will play a critical role in the discussion of any rate adjustment," Walker added. "Our stakeholders and your Board have already issued correspondence on the importance of this position."

Walker, a producer and filmmaker, said he will "take this responsibility very seriously, understanding that this will have an impact on us all."
