More About Medical Marijuana 'Gentle Ban'

A letter from Richard Adams.

(Richard Adams is a native Angeleno as well as a stakeholder and resident of Studio City.  He is also the chairman of the Public Safety Committee of the Studio City Neighborhood Council.  However, he wishes to be sure that everyone understands that he is  responding to this issue purely as a citizen and not as the holder of said office. He has asked that the letter run as-is, without editing, typos and all. A good rant should not be disturbed.)

if our illustrious City Attorney and his minions had spent as much effort on challenging the erroneous and unsupportable Federal classification of marijuana as it currently stands and thus looking for a way to solve the ultimate problem with properly regulating its sale for medical use, as the people of California have indicated they want it to be,  as he has on grandstanding on this issue and running for an office he said he wouldn't run for, we might not be in the situation we are today.

there is nothing "gentle" about this ban, and i, for one, am sick and tired of having my intelligence insulted by short sighted, willfully ignorant demagogues stirring up trouble as therapy for their atavistic fears and a need for power.

when the city has solved its budget problem, the pension shortfall, our streets and sidewalks are in fit condition (not to mention being able to get a cop or a fireman when i need one or having my call to 911 or 311 even answered instead of getting a busy signal or a recording), the trees trimmed,  and the sewers, electrical lines and the water mains are reliable, THEN, maybe, i will be interested in this sideshow.

as with the grocery bag ordinance, our Neros are fiddling with grandstanding guavno while Los Angels burns to the ground.  we would be better off if Mayor Villarboboso replaced the poltroons currently occupying the Council Chambers with horses, ala Caligua.

we would wind up with the same result, but at least their output could be used in our gardens instead of  eating up our tax money in endless litigation.

this is, to put not too fine a point on it, garbage.  that isn't what i would like to call it, but i am trying to be as civil as my disgust will allow.
