“: : Being” is now open in Studio City serving as the new home base for artist and photographer Robyn Davis, who produces one-of-a-kind designs to capture, celebrate, and commemorate the story of people’s lives.
Located in the heart of the Ventura Boulevard Boutique District, Davis calls her shop “ROBYN DAVIS : : BEING”— the two colons serve as a graphic symbol that invite people to take a pause (or two), slow down, and enjoy life — Including making time to document their family stories with unique displays in the home, place of business, or as special gifts.
Davis’s designs evolved from her desire to find original ways of displaying life photographs in her home. She experimented with mixing frames, combining images with unusual materials—and mixing photos with other home design elements in surprising ways. Her latest commissions include tin and metal prints mounted on reclaimed wood pieces, also sourced locally.

“I envision the : :Being Shop as a showcase for my photography, original designs and a place to inspire my clients with simple and fun things they can do on their own with photography,” says Davis.
“I love mixing the old and the new,” she explains. “I love modern style, technology, and gadgets, but also retro, antique, and analog.” The shop is an artistic space and reflects Davis’s love of reclaimed wood — with counters fashioned from old-growth redwood that came from a 1920s Beverly Hills mansion and a bench and table designed with wood from an old fence.

Although Davis primarily shoots on location—in the client’s home or a favorite locale —the : : Being shop accommodates simple headshots and publicity shots. Davis loves her Studio City location because she finds incredible shooting spots within walking distance of the shop—everything from urban metal corrugated doors to funky wood, white picket fence neighborhoods, canyons, and walking trails.
