Passenger Jet Makes Emergency Landing at LAX without Landing Gear

A United Airlines jet had to land in LAX Monday morning with retracted landing gear.

A United Airlines regional jetliner made an emergency landing today at Los Angeles International Airport with a landing gear problem, but no one was hurt.

The jet landed about 8:45 a.m., and everyone got off safely. An airport spokeswoman said there were 43 people aboard flight 5316, which originated in Monterey.

“A SkyWest regional jet was unable to extend its left main landing gear and landed on Runway 24L with the gear retracted,” said Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration. “The captain did not report any injuries.”
