Moms Talk: Prepping Your Child for Testing

This week and next are prime testing weeks for the Los Angeles school system. How do you make the testing period easier for your child?

It's testing time.

The Los Angeles Unified School District is testing students in most grades as part of standardized testing throughout California.

Teachers in some schools have sent home instructions for parents to make sure their children are well-fed and get plenty of sleep. Some teachers have even suspended homework for the next two weeks.

Teachers suggest keeping the student calm the week before testing, and don't emphasize the importance of the test. Also, don't make it seem meaningless.

The state Department of Education's California Standards Tests, or CSTs, are given to students in grades two to 11 in English and Math.
