Record-Breaking Ride Ends In 'Awww' On 'Jurassic Park' Final Days
After 62 rides at Universal Studios, whirlwind ended with "dino-mite" proposal for Los Angeles couple. Why the Barbasol can? SEE VIDEO.
UNIVERSAL CITY, CA – News that Universal Studios was shutting down its “Jurassic Park – The Ride” on Sept. 3 proved so devastating to Los Angeles couple Chelsea and Devin that they decided to go for it -- breaking a record for the most times ridden on the dinosaur-themed adventure. But in true Hollywood-style, there was a thriller twist that Chelsea did not see coming.
The river-raft ride, where dinosaurs run amok, holds sentimental meaning as the pair has celebrated Chelsea's birthday each year with a tradition of visiting Universal Studios Hollywood and riding the coaster, according to park operators.
"When they heard the ride is closing on September 3rd to make way for the new 'Jurassic World Ride' coming in 2019, they were inspired to break the record for most times ridden," officials said.

A previous, "unofficial record" of two best friends who rode "Jurassic Park" 60 times, reported by Buzzfeed in 2015, was busted by Chelsea and Devin on July 17 as they ventured aboard the ride 62 times -- yes, 62! -- in 13 hours, management said.
Those 13 hours included just enough "break time" for a quick lunch and few trips to the bathroom, according to Universal Studios.

And at the end of their adventure came a moment of T-rex-sized proportion: Devin's marriage proposal to Chelsea, complete with an engagement ring, custom-made and inspired by the amber rocks from the Jurassic Park film franchise.
As an added plus, Universal Pictures donated an official Barbasol-can prop replica for the proposal -- an homage to the modified shaving-cream can used to smuggle dinosaur embryos in the film.
What "Jurassic Park" has joined together, let no man put asunder: Best wishes to Chelsea and Devin!
