Reed’s Quinton Lopez, 13, on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Thursday
This week's Whiz Kid is on TV.
It’s been a dream of his since he first started watching So You Think You Can Dance, and now, Walter Reed Middle School 13-year-old Quinton Lopez is living his dream.
On Thursday night’s show, this seventh grader will be part of a dance number that will showcase the hip-hop talents he has been cultivating for four years. He’s too young to be on the show as a contestant, but someday, maybe.
“I would love to be on it if they’ll have me,” Lopez said. “It is a real honor to be chosen specifically to be on the show.”

Lopez will appear on the show the same night as legend Debbie Reynolds appears as a guest judge during the finals of the popular reality show contest. Lopez, who has lived in Valley Village all of his life, has attended Rage, a dance school in Granada Hills, for the past four years. He has studied all kinds of dance—ballet, salsa, but loves hip-hop as a specialty—and of course that qualifies him perfectly for a potential upcoming contestant.
“I want to be a dancer, that is what I’ve always wanted to be,” Lopez said.

He has appeared in three episodes of The Closer, as well as Law & Order: L.A., Special Agent Oso and the scary movie Dark House.
Lopez took the day off to rehearse and film his part on the show on Wednesday, but then plans to tell his friends in school on Thursday. His school will have 18 teens, nine boys and nine girls, and he’s among the youngest.
He said when he first went onto the familiar So You Think You Can Dance stage, it was “really really awesome.”
