RV Driver Gives Wild Reason For Slamming Into Cars In Studio City

Police arrived to find the driver lying in the street ranting about armed carjackers.

STUDIO CITY, CA — The driver of a motorhome that slammed into a bus and several parked vehicles in Studio City Wednesday night told bystanders he was the victim of a carjacking/motorhome invasion robbery, but it turned out to be untrue, according to police. The investigation shut down portions of busy Ventura Boulevard.

The driver was taken into custody and evaluated for driving under the influence, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said.

Police arrived in the 12200 block of Ventura Boulevard near Laurel Canyon Boulevard to a chaotic scene at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. They found a man lying in the street, claiming that someone had hijacked his motorhome, crashed into the cars and fled the scene, according to Officer Jeff Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Several people whose vehicles were hit said the man who had been lying in the street was the one behind the wheel when the collisions occurred, and officers determined that the motorhome had not been hijacked, Lee said.

No injuries were reported, Lee said.
