Shots Ring Out In Studio City Neighborhood

Neighbors blame a troublesome Airbnb ​rental for the sound of gunfire that pierced the air in the middle of the night.

STUDIO CITY, CA — Residents in Studio City awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of gunshots overnight, but no injuries were reported, according to police. Neighbors told reporters Tuesday the gunfire sounded as though it came from a home in the neighborhood notorious for rowdy short-term renters.

Los Angeles police responded to a report of shots fired n the 11400 block of Dona Evita Drive at about 3:40 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported, and police continue to investigate the matter.

Neighbors described the sheer terror of waking up to the sound of gunfire so close by.

"We woke up, heard (shots). I was so scared. We didn't even get out of bed," one neighbor told KNX.

Several neighbors told the news station one particular Airbnb rental in the neighborhood had been a particular problem for the community. Traffic, noise and other disruptions have been an ongoing problem, they said.
