Significant Rain Coming To Los Angeles

The National Weather Service has alerted southern California that a big rain is coming Monday and Tuesday of next week.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A significant rain is headed to Southern California, according to the National Weather Service, San Diego. Los Angeles County, San Gabriel Valley and Orange County can expect over one-inch of rain Monday and Tuesday.

This is the first significant Pacific storm of the season, forecaster Dan Gregoria said, providing much needed rain to the region.

"Commutes will be highly impacted, especially Tuesday morning and evening," Gregoria said. There is also potential for rainfall rates to exceed flash flood guidance in burn scar areas.

"Rain will arrive on Monday, increasing in coverage and intensity Monday night and Tuesday, tapering off on Wednesday," Gregoria said.

Wind, with periods of strong gusts are possible Tuesday. The strongest winds will occur from the mountain crests to the desert mountain slopes.

Accumulated snowfall and slippery roads are expected above 7,000 feet. Snowshowers on Tuesday and Wednesday may drop to 6,000 feet, when the brunt of the of snowfall that time as colder air moves into the region.
