Studio City to host Film in California Conference
The Film In California Conference, the largest event held exclusively to promote filming in the state of California, will take place at CBS

California has always been the home of filming, and the California Film Commission is working to keep it that way. The new $330 million California Film and Tax Credit program was signed last fall, and the state is already beginning to see the effect of the program officially starting in July. Nearly 40 projects applied for the $55.2 million in film and TV tax credits available for TV pilots and series in May. This represents a massive change from the old $100 million tax program, ending this month. The California Film Commission hopes to prepare and inform as many industry individuals as possible before the upcoming application deadlines through their Film in California Conference.
In it’s 8th year, the Film in California Conference, presented by the California Film Commission and the Film Liaisons in California Statewide, is the largest event exclusively held to promote filming throughout California. This year’s lineup of speakers includes actors Joe Mantegna of Criminal Minds, as well as Jon Huertas of Castle. The conference attracts over 500 professionals from the film industry, as well as over 40 representatives from film commissions across the state.
The 2015 Conference will feature sessions on various areas of the industry, including bleeding edge technologies, a panel on drone filming, and an entire clinic on the new tax incentive program. By informing filmmakers of these new incentives and the infrastructure available to them filming in state, there are high hopes that the new tax credit program will increase jobs and filming statewide.
