Studio City Native, Joan Marie Archer, Dies at 75

Joan Marie Archer, daughter of Doris and Emil Briano was born on Sept. 11, 1936 and reared in Studio City, Calif. She died Dec. 24 in Portland, Ore. and will be remembered at a funeral mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palm Desert on Jan. 6 at 11 am. She will be laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Mausoleum in Cathedral City, Calif. 

She attended St. Charles Elementary School, grades one through eight, in North Hollywood and graduated first in her class from Corvallis Girls High School in Studio City.

Joan taught school for the Palm Springs Unified School for 31 years, 28 years in Kindergarten. She received the Outstanding Young Educator's Award in 1970. She was voted Teacher of the Year in 1982, 1992 and also in 1995. Joan retired in 1996.
