Gimble is thrilled to perform at Vitello’s, grateful for the acoustics and the size of the room which are perfect for jazz, not to mention the terrific Italian food. He is more ecstatic about this singing engagement than anything he’s ever done before. For Jeffrey, music is about “sharing joy and truth.”
“I especially love an arrangement of a tune from Marvin Gaye's classic album "What's Going On" that Josh Nelson and I arranged together. It's Marvin Gaye's song "God is Love.” It has great changes and a profound, timeless message, even if you aren't particularly religious. Josh and I are excited about our rather groovy approach to it.”

Other favorites Jeffrey is psyched to present are a very funky & cool version of Aretha Franklin's "Until You Come Back to Me, That's What I'm Gonna Do;” a hip take on "Bye Bye Blackbird;” and a stunning, sexy new arrangement by Jamieson Trotter of the Joao Donato's bossa tune "The Frog."
Jeffrey eager and elated for the opportunity to connect with a live audience live. “Music is about communication and there's a certain intensity to that communication when we're all in the same room at the same time creating together. Live gigs are getting rarer these days, too, which to me makes them a much more sacred experience.”
Gimble’s recommendations to aspiring artists is: “Learn your craft. Try to get your talent to a certain level before you start showing it off in showcases & gigs. And most important, do it for the joy of it; when you get "too serious" about art it can often ruin the whole thing.”
On his premier recording Beyond Up High, a release that the Seattle Post-Intelligencer called “...an auspicious debut jazz album,” Jeffrey collaborated with songwriter/singer/producer Mark Winkler and pianist/arranger, Tamir Hendelman. An exploration of standards and seldom heard gems, that Critical Jazz called “One of the best for 2013,” the CD takes the listener on a journey through the worlds of straight ahead jazz, R&B and Bossa Nova.
Gimble is a new male voice on the scene that All About Jazz says is “terrific in style, swing and swagger.” He’s been appearing all around the SoCal area at Catalina Jazz Club, the Merc in Temecula, the LAX Radisson’s “Jazz at the RAD” series, Spaghettini Grill & Jazz Club, the West Hollywood Summer Sounds series, the Gardenia, & Vicky’s of Santa Fe, to name a few.
“Jeffrey’s innate sense of swing and performance background gives him an approach to vocals that’s fresh, engaging, and dare we say it -- entertaining. Rest assured he won’t be stopping anytime soon because he knows that time (and most importantly) the music just won’t wait…” Booking: jeffrey@jeffreygimble.com
