The Singing Cowboy Trots Out of Studio City—Autry House is Up For Sale
The wife of the late Gene Autry has finally put their Studio City home up for sale.
Gene Autry's 7,953-square foot Spanish-style home, located in the heart of Studio City, is on the market for the first time since it was built in 1949.
Sitting on 3.68 acres, at 10985 Bluffside Drive, the two-story property comes complete with five bedrooms, multiple fireplaces, a pool, den and basement, all featuring vintage walnut paneling. Not to mention there are the luxury amentities: a Western-style wet bar, breakfast room, library/media room and a more-than-spacious guesthouse.
Listed at $6.9 million, the home was occupied by the singing cowboy and his wife Jacqueline from 1961 until his death in 1998. Best known for the Christmas carol, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Autry was also inducted into four halls of fame; the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Autry is also the only entertainer to hold all five possible stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, located at 6644, 6520, 6384, 6667 and 7000 Hollywood Boulevard for live theater, radio, TV, movies and recording.
Also for sale with the landmark home is $200,000 worth of Western-styled furniture and artwork, collected by the couple over the course of half a century.

While the home is currently set up similar to Graceland, the property's location makes it impossible to turn it into a museum or landmark. Situated in the middle of a residential neighborhood, the home must be sold as a home, not as a business, to avoid neighborhood disruption.
Over the course of their marriage, the Autry's acquired an additional home in Palm Springs, where Jacqueline has chosen to reside.
Purchase information for their Studio City home is currently available via The Flying Estate, as well as a multitude of additional photos of the property.
Autry worked quite a bit a Republic Studios when it was located where the CBS Studio Center, or Radford Studios, are now. He will be one of the features at the free open-house commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Republic Studios held this coming Saturday on Sept. 25.
