Valley View Goes Whale Watching

It's one of the annual programs that may get cut unless PTA takes it over completely.

takes their third grade classes to Long Beach every year for a whale watching trip. 

It's a highlight for , which is a Title 1 school and has children from all parts of Los Angeles. Many of the children going on this trip don't ever get to the ocean, much less get on a boat. 

The city often foots the bill for the buses that transport the students down to the boats, and much of the rest of the field trip is paid for by the PTA at the school. Like every school, like e, such trips are getting far more costly, and the income for the school is getting smaller.

So far, the school is planning to keep educational outings like this, but parents are worried that there may be fewer of them in the future.
