PTA NEWS Family Readers Day!
Please join the students in the classrooms on Wednesday 1/25 in the morning 8am to 8:30am for FAMILY READERS DAY! You can bring your own books from home or see Mrs. Cain in the Library. Afterward, please join us in the Auditorium for breakfast and socializing.
There will be no PTA meeting this Wednesday 1/25.
We have some new faces around campus with new students who have just joined our Valley View family in rooms 1, 2, 10, 3, 5 and 6. The room parents from those rooms plus Miss Congeniality, Catherine from Hospitality, will be reaching out to those families to introduce them to Valley View as part of our Parent Mentorship program. We encourage you also to make them welcome!
FUNDRAISING CORNER Calendar Sales Reach$8000!Thank you to all the students and families who sold and bought Valley View Elementary School's Calendar of the Arts! The money raised is essential in supporting our school by funding librarian services, field trips, technology, and general campus needs.
FORGOT TO TURN IN YOUR SALES?
WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP.
MONDAY MORNING IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO ENSURE YOUR CHILD IS ELIGIBLE FOR PRIZES.
In the last 2 weeks, we have had some incredible Field Trips, Workshops and Assemblies, organized by our wonderful Noel Ampel. We featured each in our weekly newsletter to keep you informed, but just in case you missed them...
Mr. Valentine brought his animals for all the students to learn about and hold and squeal over. The Side Street bus came to teach our Kindergarteners some hands-on wood-working. The 1st graders went to the Van Nuys Airport and got an introduction to aviation and the history of a local landmark. Our 4th graders went to LA County Museum of Art to see the latest exhibits related to class curriculum. The Pacifico Dance Company came to our auditorium to perform Mexican folklorico dances.
One we didn't feature was the Biodome workshop last week for our 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. This is a pilot program run by the Science Discovery Center of Los Angeles where the instructors set up a biodome in the auditorium. Audio and visual images are projected inside the biodome, and the students sit inside it. The
students learn about habitats in the desert while being engaged visually with the material. The students are taught about ecology, adaptation, and habitats of the Mojave Desert.
Ask your kids what they learned in these fantastic Enrichment programs we are so proud of. Some are funded by grants acquired by the tireless Noel, but most are funded by YOU, the Valley View PTA, by fundraisers such as our recent 2012 Calendar sale. Thank you so much for your continued support!Get more local news delivered straight to your inbox. Sign up for free Patch newsletters and alerts.
