Walter Reed Middle School Choirs Add Their Spark Of Magic to Disneyland

This past weekend, Walter Reed’s choirs competed in the Music in The Parks competition at Disneyland. Competing in three different categories, Walter Reed walked away with five trophies and two medals. The 7th grade treble choir was awarded 1st place with a superior rating for their performance. UpBeat! the newly formed show choir was not only awarded 1st place with a superior rating but was also awarded the overall top choir in the competition. Their score was the highest of all the middle schools and high schools in the competition. It is also the highest score in the history of the Walter Reed music department. The two barbershop quartets, the Harmonettes and the Sweet Harmonies were also awarded trophies and superior ratings. Reed students, Nigel Fregozo and Joel Lee were awarded special performance medals for their guitar accompanist (Nigel) and solo performance (Joel). This is the second 1st place and top performance award for UpBeat!

UpBeat! and the Barbershop Quartets will be performing on May 26th and May 28th at Walter Reed. All shows starts at 6:30pm. Tickets will be available at the door.
