Want to Run for Local Office? You Better Be Living in the Right District
You've got to in your rightful address by Oct. 4. Here's more election info from the city of Los Angeles office of City Clerk.

From the city of Los Angeles:
Los Angeles City Clerk Holly L. Wolcott reminds all candidates who wish to run for city-elected offices in the city of Los Angeles primary nominating election on March 3, 2015, that they must reside in the applicable jurisdiction or district in which they are running for office by Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014.
Candidates for Council Districts (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14), and candidates for Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board of Education Districts (1, 3, 5, and 7) must be residents within their respective district by this date.

The deadline is set by City Charter as 30 days preceding Nov. 3, 2014 which is the first day that candidates can file a declaration of intention to become a candidate.
Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Board of Trustees candidates are required to be residents of the LACCD at the time of filing for candidacy (Nov. 3-8, 2014). Failure to meet the above residency requirement will disqualify candidates from running for office.

Additionally, to be eligible for election to the City Council, a candidate must be a registered voter within the Council District. To qualify for election to the LAUSD or LACCD, a candidate must be a registered voter within the LAUSD or the LACCD, respectively.

Candidate information is also available via the internet at: http://clerk.lacity.org/elections/ under the “Candidate Information” section.
The Office of the City Clerk - Election Division administers elections for the city of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles Community College District. The city’s primary nominating election will be held March 3, 2015 and the General Municipal Election will be held May 19, 2015.
