Where To Shop for Halloween?
From couture costumes to candy corn we've got your stores in Studio City.
Well, it's official. Halloween is here and the stores are in full swing.
I did a little looking around for you and, along with my expert in all things Halloween, my daughter, we came up with a few places in the ' hood that we hope will meet your Halloween needs.
1. EC 2 Costumes: Located at 4019 Tujunga Avenue. This is no ordinary costume shop. EC 2 is the premiere rental house for the film and television industry. With literally hundreds and hundreds of original, one of a kind costumes to chose from, EC 2 is known for it's Bob Mackie designs that made stars like Cher, Maria Osmond, Carol Burnett and Liza Minnelli famous. EC 2, run by the incredible Worthy "Mama" Meacham III, not only rents its designs to such shows as Glee, Dancing with the Stars, and numerous feature films, during the Halloween season they keep their doors open late just to cater to the customer in search of that super fabulous, contest winning costume.

Their costumes are mainly for women only (sorry kids) and very few men. If it's glamour, sparkle, showstopping showgirl designs you want, this place has it. With prices ranging from a minimum of $50 going as far up as $500, EC 2 will have you fitted and looking fabulous for whatever Halloween event you're attending.
They suggest you book an appointment in advance. Keep in mind, these designs are all one of a kind couture so you are guaranteed to never find yourself arriving at the ball wearing the same costume as six other people! Super friendly service, and a visual feast—EC 2 is a must see!

2. Cinema Secrets: Located at 4400 Riverside Drive. Okay, I cheated a bit on this one. Technically, this is in Touluca Lake, but it is truly spitting distance from the Studio City boarder and a fantastic Halloween store for all ages. Cinema Secrets carries it all; make-up, costumes, accessories, decorations, wigs, prosthetics, shoes, spooky CD's and much much more! Truly a one-stop shop for the whole family, Cinema Secrets has costumes for all ages and plenty to chose from. Prices range from $20 to -$150. This is a fun place to check out if for no other reason than the great decorations and mechanical monsters.
3. CVS Pharmacy: Located on 12143 Ventura Blvd. Let's face it, these are lean times. So, if you're on a budget CVS is a great place to go. CVS has your candy, costumes and jack-o-lanterns for really low prices. Costumes are mainly for kids, and their selection limited, but you can find that last minute outfit for under $12. With plenty of masks, fake blood, swords and tattoos to add to your ensemble, CVS is a great way to get your candy and decorations quickly without breaking your wallet. CVS is always offering sales and with a CVS card you are sure to get extra savings.
That gives you a few ideas if you live in the Studio City area. Of course, there are always great deals on-line, as well as the nearest 99-Cent stores. And, if you want to venture a little bit out of the 91604 area code, check out Aah's, Party City and Halloween Super Store.
Just remember, things sell fast! So, get out there and have fun!
