Why is there a Swiss Flag Flying Over Carpenter?

l has not been taken over by a foreign government. Those two flags flying just underneath the California and U.S. flags at the elementary school are from the countries of Switzerland and Lichtenstein.

That’s because a few teachers from those countries are in town for three weeks visiting the campus as part of an exchange program with the school, and said the school community has a lot planned for the visiting teachers.

The teachers arrived over the weekend, were hosted to a Sunday brunch and then they will be going on a nature hike, Martinez said. The teachers, who all speak English, will participate in teaching some of the classes.

"This is the first time we've tried something like this, and everyone is pretty excited about it," Martinez said.

Tuesday is the regularly scheduled Trash-Free Tuesday, and at 8:15 a.m. is a planned test fire drill for the entire school.
