Wind Knocks Out Power to Studio City Residents
Thousands of residents are without power as winds buffet utility operations.

About 24,000 customers were without electrical service in various areas of wind-buffeted Los Angeles County today, including about 18,000 in the city of Los Angeles, authorities said.
In the city of Los Angeles, affected areas included Hollywood, Mid- Wilshire, Studio City, South Los Angeles and Koreatown, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Most of the outages were wind-related.
In communities served by Southern California Edison, the following outages were reported:

-- Long Beach, 954 customers affected, caused by weather conditions;
-- Palos Verdes Estates, 44 customers affected, caused by weather conditions that toppled trees;

-- Alhambra, 2,698 customers, unknown cause;
-- various unincorporated areas, nearly 1,000 customers, many caused by weather conditions;
-- Bellflower, 400 customers, unknown cause;
-- Monrovia, 482 customers, caused by weather conditions; and
-- La Canada Flintridge, 127 customers, unknown cause.
