Twenty-five middle school students participated in the 13th annual ACE Academy hosted by Van Nuys Airport. This week long program gave students an in-depth look into the world of aviation.
These students learned about career opportunities in the field of aviation and about VNY’s unique history. Kids were able to go behind the scenes to get a first-hand look at daily operations which included visits to various airport locations. They were given tours of various facilities and learned from experienced individuals in the aviation field.
Students immersed themselves to the whole experience. “The program really opened my eyes to the different careers in the aviation industry. There’s so much more to the aviation industry than just becoming a pilot or a flight attendant. Although, I intend on becoming a pilot, it’s surprising how many jobs and people are required to keep an airport running smoothly.” said Kolin Jones, one of the Middle School students.
