2 Barely Escape Solano County House Fire

BREAKING: The single-family home in nearby Fairfield was left uninhabitable.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- Two residents escaped a two-alarm fire at their single-family home in Fairfield on the evening of Jan. 3, according to a fire battalion chief.

The fire in the 4400 block of Oakridge Drive near Solano Community College was reported at 7:45 p.m. The house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, Fairfield Fire Battalion Chief Larry Palmer said.

The Cordelia Fire Protection District also responded to the fire, and firefighters were at the scene for about four hours, Palmer said.

The cause is under investigation but the blaze, which left the home uninhabitable, might have started in the garage, Palmer said.

The fire caused significant damage to the two-story home, and the residents have found other housing, according to Palmer.
